Are You Ready to Take a New Bible Study for a Swim?

“I’m new — and admittedly hesitant — to studying the Bible. Do I really want to “study,” when there aren’t test or grades on the line? Is this really worth my time?”

“I’ve done a Bible study before. Just once. It turned out to be a longer version of a Sunday sermon with less people in the audience. I remember about as much as I do after those sermons — nada.”

“I can’t wait to do another Bible study. I have my favorites, but I’ve loved every Bible study I’ve ever done. I love to read and dig in. And I love to share with others what I’ve learned.”

I’ve sat next to each of these people at a Bible study, and I’ve also been each of them. The one nodding off in the corner, who hasn’t said a word. The eager learner who had more words than the rest of the room combined. The person who spent most of their time searching for Nehemiah in the wrong section of the Bible.

Oh, I’ve been the group leader, too, struggling to get people to engage or monopolizing the time with the sound of my voice. Being in — or leading — a Bible study can feel like treading water in a lake someone pushed you into.

LifeMosaic is different.

It has to be. Schedules are full, and opportunities abound. If a Bible study doesn’t grab someone’s attention and keep them engaged, it can be the first thing to go. But LifeMosaic got my attention and quickly proved itself to be worth every minute.

First, LifeMosaic is interactive. My primary learning style isn’t listening to a lecture. I learn by seeing, doing, and talking to others. LifeMosaic is a collection of experiences, customized by the people in your group. The lessons are shaped around opportunities to see, speak, hear, try, think, and practice.

LifeMosaic brings the full story of the Bible to you each year. Although I recognize that to learn something and learn it well, I need repeated exposure, I don’t love just doing the same thing over and over. While each year of LifeMosaic covers the entire story of the Bible, each of the four years is different, covering different books of the Bible and different corners of each story. At the end of four years, you’ve covered the entire story four times, but you’ve covered it in four different ways. Now, that’s a best-of-both worlds Bible study.

Not only do the lessons connect one to another and connect each passage to the bigger picture, but LifeMosaic connects God’s story with the lives of each person in the room. And as that happens, each person’s story has the opportunity to connect one with another in a relationship-building setting. Experiencing this interactive study alongside old friends and new brought the Bible alive in ways that couldn’t help but to transform.

While this study is fully packaged with the Narrative Lectionary — a scheduled selection of weekly readings ideal for congregations — and is prepared for weekly engagement over the course of four years, the ideal settings are endless. LifeMosaic is a hit in small groups, Sunday school classes, mentor pairs, online learning environments, and seasonal studies.

With optional resources for each lesson, such as videos, stories, songs, maps, commentary, and daily readings, LifeMosaic is fully customizable for any context. Are you a group or individual without a leader? Have no fear! LifeMosaic is successful with or without a guide, requiring no preparation at all.

LifeMosaic is unlike any study I’ve ever done. Whatever level of Bible study you are looking for, it’ll give you the space and tools to dive deep, dip your toe in the water, or anything in between.

So, c’mon in, the water’s fine!
